HO Gauge Lionel Model Train Track
The designation of HO Gauge train track originated in Great Britain. More than sixty years ago it was conceived to represent that HO stood for "Half of O Scale." It came close, but didn't succeed in that goal. The proportion is 1:87, or 3.5 millimeters to the foot. Track measures .65 inch (16.5mm) between the running rails. Because of the smaller size of HO model train track, it was found to be a saver of space, is still popular today, but the HO Scale trains don't seem to do well against the rough handling from children.
